NTPC invites bids for EPC of 1,200 MW solar PV projects in Karnataka

NTPC floated EPC tenders for ISTS-connected solar PV projects of up to 1,200 MW in Karnataka. The bid submission deadline is Dec 24, 2021


NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a 100% subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has floated an EPC tender for development of up to 1200 MW solar PV projects in the state of Karnataka. 

NTPC has invited bids from contractors along with land for the development of inter-state transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar PV projects with a capacity of up to 1,200 MW in Karnataka as part of an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) package. 

Bidding for a minimum of 50 MW and multiples of 10 MW is required for each project. A project between 50 MW and 600 MW can be obtained under this tender.

Important Dates: The deadline for submitting bids is December 24, 2021. On the same day, bids will be opened.

Scope of Work: Grid-connected solar PV projects are located near the Gadag and Koppal districts in Karnataka, and the scope of work includes design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, packaging and forwarding, transportation, unloading, storage, installation, and commissioning. Operation and maintenance (O&M) of the project would also be the responsibility of the winning bidder for three years.

Other Tender Details: The interested bidder should meet the following eligibility criteria to take part in the bidding process…

  • As a developer or as an EPC contractor, bidders must have completed at least one electrical sub-station of 33 kV voltage.
  • Applicants should have completed grid-connected photovoltaic solar projects with cumulative installed capacity of 40 MW or higher, comprising at least one project of 10 MW or greater in size. 
  • Before the date of the techno-commercial bid opening on December 24, the reference project must have been operating successfully for at least six months. 
  • Bids can also be submitted by developers or EPC contractors who have completed a project in the field of oil, gas, petrochemicals, or fertilizers in the past ten years.
  • Over the past three years, an average annual turnover of not less than INR 2 billion is needed to bid for projects between 50 MW and 300 MW. 
  • While, for 300 MW to 600 MW projects, the interested bidder should have an average annual turnover of at least INR 4 billion over the last three financial years.
