BHEL seeks bid for supply of galvanized steel structures for 9 MW of solar projects

BHEL has floated a tender for galvanized steel structures for 9 MW of solar projects across India under a 2022-24 framework agreement. Bids submission deadline is June 4, 2022.


Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has announced that it is seeking bids for the supply of 650 tonnes of galvanized steel structures for nine megawatts (MW) of solar power projects to be developed across India under a 2022-24 framework agreement.

After awarding the tender to the winning bidder, BHEL will enter into a Framework Agreement with that company. The agreement will be valid for two years and will apply to the quantity mentioned in the tender notice. BHEL will place a purchase order with the successful bidder, as per its requirements.

Important Dates: The deadline for submitting bids is June 4, 2022. The bids will be opened on the same day.

Eligibility Criteria : To be eligible to participate in the bidding process the bidder should meet the following criteria;

  • Bidder must have supplied 200 metric tons (MT) of similar items like galvanized steel structures, trays, lattice, or module mounting structures during the last year or 400 MT in the last two financial years to participate in the bidding process.
  • The bidder should have a minimum monthly manufacturing capacity of 40 megawatts of galvanized steel structures.
  • Either, the bidder is required to have an in-house hot-dip galvanizing facility suitable for jobs up to 6 meters or have a tie up with a third party capable of doing galvanize jobs up to 6 meters. The bidder should be ISO 9001 compatible and have valid certificates.
  • Also the bidder is required to have an average annual turnover of at least ₹20 million during the last three financial years. As well as, the bidder should have a positive net worth during the last three financial years.
  • Bidder should either be a registered suppliers to BHEL, NTPC, NHPC, state electricity boards, Power Grid Corporation of India, BSNL, Indian Railways, or any government-owned infrastructure construction company or have supplied directly or through the main contractor to these organisations.

Other Tender Details: The successful bidder is required to procure all raw materials from Tata Steel, SAIL, Essar Steel, JSW Steel and Power, Rashtriya Ispat Nigam, and Jindal Steel and Power.

Further Bhel stated that it is required that all the components are hot-dip galvanized to specifications as listed in IS:4759 and IS:2629, and the minimum thickness of the zinc coating should be 610 gm/square meter or 85 microns.

The thickness of each section should be between 1.6 mm and 3.2 mm, and delivery of the structures are to be made within 10 weeks (including inspection) or two weeks after dispatch clearance from BHEL, whichever is earlier.

In addition, the selected bidder will also be required to provide a warranty on the supplied goods for 24 months from delivery or 18 months from commissioning, whichever is earlier.
