SECI opens tenders to source land for solar projects in Uttar Pradesh

The SECI issued a tender for sourcing land in Uttar Pradesh for setting up solar projects to cater to the state’s agricultural feeders.


The Solar Energy Corporation of India has issued an expression of interest aimed at securing land for solar projects in Uttar Pradesh. The solar projects are to be set up for supplying to the state’s agricultural feeders.

Using solar energy, these projects would be developed at specific locations in Uttar Pradesh, which would be identified, leased, or acquired by the selected developers for the project.



Important Dates: Bids must be submitted by October 7, 2021, and will be opened on October 8. On September 17, there will be a pre-bid meeting.

Other Tender Details:

  • Legal ownership of the land should be available to the bidder. Land should be in the applicant’s legal and physical possession. 
  • Land should be offered in parcels of at least four acres (assuming 4 acres per megawatt). The land parcel should be in a single location that is within a reasonable distance of the substation of the DISCOM. 
  • Road access should be readily available to the property. In the case of a lease, the lease tenure will be 30 years from the date of signing the lease agreement.
  • Further, the land should be free from all encumbrances and not adjoin any wildlife areas, protected forest areas, or military bases.
  • Applicants can offer land at a single location or at multiple locations adjacent to each other under one substation, or at different locations under different substations in the same district, or in different districts. 
  • Evaluation of bids will depend on the total land cost, plus the construction cost of the transmission line.
  • Developers may accept or reject sites offered by applicants based on the due diligence mentioned above, or as per their requirements.
