Re -Tendering for 1 MW solar power plant at Madurai Kamaraj University by NIWE

For the second time, NIWE has issued a tender to build a 1MW solar power at Madurai Kamaraj University in Tamil Nadu. The qualified firms need to submit their bids latest by 17 September 2020.


A tender for the commissioning of 1 MW solar power plant at Madurai Kamaraj University has been issued by the National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE).

The tender invites EPC contractors from India to submit their offers for the commissioning of a 1 MW solar power plant at the Madurai Kamaraj University in the state of Tamil Nadu.

The NIWE has earlier tendered for the project in June 2020, with a deadline for submission of 29 June. This is the second time, NIWE has issued a tender for the project.

Submission Deadline:

The deadline for submission of applications is September 17, 2020 and the tender will be open on September 18, 2020.

Earnest Money Deposit:

An amount of INR 13 lakhs will be required on the part of interested bidders to be submitted as the earnest money deposit (EMD).

However, contractors can avail EMD payment exemption if registered with the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), such as MSMEs registered for the product/service relevant to the present tender. Contractors shall be liable for an exemption to the money cap for which they are registered with NSIC.

Scope of Work

Under the work scope, the selected bidders will be required to undertake the designing, engineering, supply, construction, erection, testing, commissioning, and grid synchronization along with the power evacuation system to the nearest available substation of the mono-crystalline solar PV plant.

Bidders will also have to provide 5 years of comprehensive AMC, warranty, insurance, and operations and maintenance (O&M), from the date of commissioning of the solar plant.

Eligibility Criteria:

In order to be eligible for bid participation, the bidder must have been involved in EPC of solar power and in addition to all the required related, allied, auxiliary equipment, must have successfully built and commissioned grid-connected solar panel plants of 20 MW (AC) or more capacity in India within the last five years following the announcement of the tender…

In the last one year, the bidder is also expected to have successfully executed O&M activities of at least one single ground-mounted grid-connected PV power plant of 1 MW (AC).

Financial Eligibility Criteria:

In the last three financial years, the minimum average annual turnover of prospective bidders should have been at least INR 1.5 crore in order to be eligible for competitive bidding processes.
