This competitive order for setting up of 2 FGD systems was driven by Thermax’s proven technological capabilities in the area of air pollution and gaseous abatement, according to Ashish Bhandari, MD & CEO, Thermax

Thermax has been awarded an order to set up two flue-gas desulfurisation (FGD) systems worth INR 545.6 crore in Uttar Pradesh.

According to a BSE filing, Thermax Ltd. has been awarded an order of INR 545.6 crore from a public sector power utility in India for the installation of FGD systems at its two 500 megawatt (MW) units in Uttar Pradesh.

As a result of the FGD systems installation, SOx emissions will be reduced at their plant, and air quality standards set for power plants will be met, the company added.

The statement further stated that this is the company’s second FGD order in the current financial year.

Ashish Bhandari, the company’s Managing Director and CEO, commented, “Thermax’s proven technological capabilities in the area of air pollution and gaseous abatement, particularly FGD, where the company is currently executing a few large orders, led to the company’s competitive win.”

Design, engineering, manufacturing, civil work, construction, and commissioning of the FGD systems is included in the scope of the supply. The project is scheduled for completion in 30 months.
