TATA Projects’ secures 120-km Transmission Line project in Bangladesh

Connecting Barapukuria to Bogura via 400 KV duplex transmission lines will also help expansion of high voltage transmission infrastructure in northern Bangladesh.

TATA Projects Limited has entered Bangladesh’s T&D sector. With extensive experience in executing large and complex urban and industrial infrastructure projects, the company is one of India’s most admired and fastest growing infrastructure companies.

Tata Projects recently announced that the company has been awarded a 400 KV Double Circuit Transmission Line project estimated at approximately INR 900 crore (USD 120 million) by Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Limited (PGCB).

The company secured this 120-km length project from Barapukuria to Bogura on a turnkey basis. EXIM Bank India, under its Indian Line of Credit program, will provide the funding for this project which will be executed in 30 months.

This transmission line will also result in high voltage transmission infrastructure being expanded in Bangladesh’s northern region. The project will also allow the transmission of 1600 MW of electricity from Jharkhand to Bangladesh.

A piling foundation will support the entire transmission line, which will be strung with 100% high tension low sag conductors. Since such technologies have not previously been used in Bangladesh’s T&D sector, this project is unique.

Tata Projects’ services include providing turnkey end-to-end solutions for setting up power generation plants, power transmission and distribution systems, integrated rail and metro systems, chemical processing plants, water and wastewater management solutions, and complete mining and metal purification solutions.

Using world-class project management techniques and uncompromising safety and sustainability standards, the company is committed to delivering projects on time.
