Over 10 GW of RE capacity added in the first 3 Quarters of 2021
JMK Research expects around 11 GW of new utility-scale solar capacity additions and 2.8 MW of new wind energy capacity additions during 2021.
A recent report by JMK Research stated that over 10 GW of capacity was added across renewable space in India during the first nine months of the current calendar year.
The report further stated that about 8811 MW of solar power and 1246 MW of wind power was added across the country during the period of January to September 2021.
As compared to the same period previous year, the current year witnessed a growth around 280 percent in solar and 101 percent in wind energy capacity addition, the report added.
Citing the data from MNRE till September 2021, the report mentioned that India’s renewable energy installation capacity reached 101.53 GW. Of this total RE capacity in the country, the solar energy segment accounts for about 46 percent share, followed by wind energy, bio energy and small hydro.
During the period of none months till September 2021, the states that excelled in solar capacity installations are Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra. Together these states accounted for about 68.53 percent of the total solar installation in the country during the first nine months of 2021.
On the other hand, in the wind power segment Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka together contributed about 98.6 percent of the wind installations across India during this period.
About 2068 MW of new rooftop solar capacity was added during this period period. This is 134 percent higher than the rooftop capacity addition during the same period last year, the report added.
JMK Research expects about 11 GW of new utility-scale solar capacity additions and 2.8 MW of new wind energy capacity additions during 2021, across the country. While around 3 GW of rooftop solar capacity addition is expected across the country the report added.
