NTPC issues Invitation for Bid to build 600 MW solar PV projects with ISTS

NTPC Ltd has invited bids for the EPC package to develop up to 600 MW of ISTS solar PV grid-connected projects.

NTPC Limited has issued the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) Contractor Invitation to Bids (IFB) with land for solar development projects of up to 600 MW of productivity.

These connected solar projects can be built anywhere in India with the ISTS (interstate transmission systems).

Each project will be capacity of at least 50 MW and multiplied by 10 MW, as per the tender. A single project’s maximum capacity is set at 300 MW.

Submission Deadline:

The last date of the bid submission is 22 June 2020.

Earnest Money Deposit :

The prospective bidders have to pay the Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) of 20 million Dollar (~264,772 USD).

Scope of Work

The scope of the work for selected bidders includes entire EPC work required for the project development, as well as the power evacuation system up to the ISTS substation. The work also includes complete transfer of ownership or land lease in favour of NTPC.

Technical Criteria

In the technical criteria, interested bidders should have designed, supplied, and installed solar projects with a cumulative installed capacity of at least 40MW of which at least 10 MW (at single location) should be one of at least six months in successful operation. SPV based rooftop and floating solar projects which are grid connected will consider qualifying for eligibility.

Apart from that, in the last 10 years, the bidder should have executed either developers or EPC contractors in the field of oil, gas, petrochemical, or fertilizers.

Other Criteria:

The NTPC noted that interested bidders should have executed, either as the developer or as the EPC contractor, at least one electrical substation of at least 33 kV voltage levels.

For bidding the project the bidder must have an average annual turnover in the last three financial years, which is at least $22.1 billion (~$27.8 million).

For three years, the successful bidders will be responsible for operation and maintenance (O&M) of the complete solar project.
