India installed 1.5 GW of utility-scale solar capacity in Q2 2021: Report
A recent market report stated that India installed 1.5 GW of solar power in Q2 and is further expected to add 3.1 GW of solar and 1 GW of wind power capacity by the end of Q3 2021.
A recent market report shows that India installed 1.5 gigawatts (GW) of utility-scale solar capacity in the second quarter (Q2) of 2021, which is 30 percent less than the previous quarter.
In wind energy, 475 MW was added, which is 56 percent less than what was added in Q1 2021. Approximately 417 MW of rooftop solar was added, 55 percent less than in the previous quarter,” according to the report.
Further, the report stated that India is expected to add a solar energy capacity of 3.1 GW and a wind power capacity of 1GW by Q3 2021.
Reports published by JMK Research indicate that India’s installed renewable capacity reached 96.95 GW by June 30, 2021.
With 44 percent of the total renewable energy mix, solar contributes the most, followed by wind with 41 percent. A report stated that approximately 56 GW of solar, wind and hybrid projects are likely to be commissioned in three to four years.
Projects with a capacity of 25 GW are still in the bidding phase.
A report stated that in 2021, the country would add 10.3 GW to its utility-scale solar and wind capacity by 2.8 GW.
The report said about 3.5 GW of solar capacity was installed during the first half of 2021, which is 63 percent more than during the same period last year.
The leading states with the largest solar installations were Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh.
