Govt seeks proposal to set up a manufacturing zone for power and renewable sector
According to the bid documents, all interested parties must submit a single proposal latest by June 8, 2022, an official statement said.
The government has issued a request for proposals for setting up a manufacturing zone for power and renewable energy sectors on a pilot basis.
As per the bid documents, the last date for submission of expression of interest is June 8, 2022. It further specifies that each interested party is required to submit a single proposal.
The bids will be evaluated based on size of the area proposed, connectivity, and low electricity and water charges. Priority will be given to encumbrances free areas near ports, with competitive electricity and water tariffs, and where the area is more than 150 acres.
The proposed funding would be kept available for common infrastructure and testing facilities.The selected party or SPV will be responsible for the preparation of a detailed project report, obtaining clearances and land acquisition for the manufacturing zone.
The SPV will also be responsible for the operation and management of assets created under the scheme. While, the government has stated that it will be responsible for providing encumbrance-free land.
The grant will be released in four installments – three of 30% each and the last of 10%, according to the document.
The Union Ministry for Power had earlier issued orders to implement a ₹400 crore scheme targeting the promotion of local manufacturing of latest clean energy equipment. This five-year central sector scheme from 2022-23 to 2026-27 aims to minimise dependence on imports for the power & renewable energy sector.
