Bids invited for 3,000 MW of ISTS-linked energy storage projects by NTPC Renewable Energy
A global competitive bidding process will be conducted online followed by a reverse auction to install the capacity under a capex mode
The state owned giant NTPC’s Renewable Energy subsidiary (NTPC REL) is inviting bids from developers for ISTS-connected energy storage systems (ESS) of 3,000 MW. These projects are open for development anywhere in India.
“Power generated by any of the clean energy projects of NTPC or NTPC REL will be used for charging the ESS project, the document said. The storage facility will be used “on-demand” to meet NTPC REL’s needs during peak and off-peak hours,” it added.
The capacity will be installed on a capital expenditure basis through an online global competitive bidding process followed by a reverse auction, the document states. After the conclusion of the bidding process, NTPC REL will enter into a 25 years ESS agreement on an annual fixed charge basis with the selected bidders.
According to the document, the total completion schedule for the assignment is 24 months from the date of signing of the ESS contract, which will be signed within three months after issuance of the Letter of Award.
It also added that the project must be at least 600 MW in size. Bidders can quote capacities that range from 600 MW with a minimum of 100 MW to 1,200 MW with a minimum of 200 MW to 1,800 MW with a minimum of 300 MW to 2,400 MW with a minimum of 400 MW and 3,000 MW with a minimum of 500 MW.
