SJVN Ltd signs MoU with NIWE for renewable projects
SJVN has signed an MoU pact with the National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE) for the development of solar and wind energy projects.
State-owned SJVN Limited has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE) to avail their technical consultancy services for the development of solar, wind, and hybrid energy projects of SJVN, according to the statement released.
The MoU was signed by Nandlal Sharma CMD Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam and K Balaraman director-general of National Institue of Wind Energy – in a virtual ceremony.
As per the pact, NIWE will extend their technical consultancy support to SJVN that will include activities like – assessment of feasibility and techno-commercial aspect of the projects along with preparation of detailed project reports, estimates, and bid documents encompassing all the relevant aspects of these project from the concept to the commissioning stage.
On signing of the pact, Sharma commented that the joint efforts of SJVNL and NIWE will help accelerate the process of achieving the Government of India’s renewable energy targets and providing round-the-clock energy to the nation.
He further added that these efforts will also lead to the achievement of SJVNL’s shared vision of becoming a 25000 MW company by 2040.
SJVN was incorporated in 1988 as a joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Himachal Pradesh. The company began with a single project and a single state operation.
As of date, the company has commissioned seven projects totaling 2016.5 MW of installed capacity and 86 km of 400 kV transmission lines.
SJVNL is currently implementing or operating power projects in the states of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar Maharashtra, and Gujarat in India along with having a presence in neighboring countries of Nepal and Bhutan.
