Vikram Solar launched next-generation Series 6 modules

Vikram Solar has launched its new Series 6 modules- Somera and Prexos, with higher efficiency. The next-generation design incorporates advanced M6 type of cells.

The launch of the Somera and Prexos – Series 6 modules have been announced by Vikram Solar, India’s leading module maker, Solar EPC player, and O&M solutions provider. These modules incorporate the superior and advanced M6 type cell.

The new modules of Series 6 will provide up to 505 watt-peak (Wp) and more than 21 percent performance. In addition, the Series 6 modules are cost-effective as they will require lesser land that will help in minimizing total project costs due to reduced cost cabling, civil work, as well as operation and maintenance cost. Thus, the new Series 6 modules will improve cost savings for customers on the project level.

While Series 6 Somera is a mono-facial type module, the Series 6 Prexos, are available in the bifacial category. Both Series 6 Somera and Prexos are the multi-busbar modules (MBB) that come with the latest technology M6 cells and Mono PERC technology in models variant of 120, 144, and 156 half cells. The 120 half-cut version shall be available for US and foreign markets exclusively.

The new Series 6 MBB half-cut PV modules come with technical innovations that provide higher power even in low light and partial shade conditions. Thus, solar power can be harnessed even in historically unviable locations. These modules have been specifically designed to ensure higher efficiency and to improve module power and output due to the number and shapes of busbars.

Speaking on the occasion, Saibaba Vutukuri, CEO, Vikram Solar, said, “Our R&D efforts are focused on continuously innovating, to introduce the highest efficiency and reliable products, with an unwavering focus on a higher return on investments for our customers. The new Series 6 is a game-changer for the global solar industry from an efficiency, power output, and cost-effectiveness perspective. Bringing down the Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) is at the heart of designing and manufacturing the Series 6 modules. With this launch, we have further strengthened our product portfolio which caters to all customer segments. It marks a significant milestone in the evolution of solar technology globally and keeps us on the path of leading the change.”
