Top 10 developers installed the majority of solar projects in 2020
During the year 2020, the top 10 developers installed 69% of the solar projects in the country, according to a recently released report by Mercom Communications India
According you are recently released report by Mercom Communications India, the top 10 large scale solar power developer accounted for around 69 % of projects installations in 2020.
As per the report in utility-scale project developers, Adani topped the list with the highest installed capacity in 2020. On the other – in rooftop space, Tata Power Solar held the top position with the largest rooftop installations in 2020. While in solar EPC space, Sterling & Wilson was the leading player.
India saw around 48% share from solar power of the total new power capacity added during 2020. While of the total solar installation during the year large-scale solar installations accounted for 78% of the additions. The country added 2.5 GW of large-scale solar projects in 2020.
Of this 2.5 GW capacity, 69% of the installations came from the top 10 large-scale project developers. While Adani was the top utility-scale developer in 2020, the Azure power accounted for the second-largest installations in utility solar power space, during the year. On the other hand, for the utility-scale solar installations, the top EPC players were Sterling & Wilson and Tata Power Solar during 2020.
Talking of rooftop solar the report mentioned that there was around 719 MW of rooftop solar projects installed during the year 2020, reporting a decline of 35% over the previous year – mainly on account of disruptions caused by the pandemic.
Of this total rooftop capacity installed during the year, around 66% of the rooftop installations came from the top 10 rooftop solar installers. Tata Solar Power stood at the top position with the highest capacity installations during the year, while the Fourth Partner Energy was second in the row in rooftop solar space during 2020.
The top ten module suppliers during 2020 included a number of Indian manufacturers. However, LONGi Solar was on the top of the list followed by Jinko Solar in terms of shipment of modules during 2020. In solar inverter space, Sungrow topped the list of central inverter suppliers during 2020. While for string inverter, the leading suppliers were Huawei, Sungrow, Growatt, Goodwe, and Solis during the year.
Arctech Solar and NEXTracker were the top solar tracker’s suppliers during 2020 to the Indian market. Meanwhile, as per the report, SNS Corporation topped the list of solar mounting structures suppliers during the year. The other major mounting structure suppliers were Strolar and Ganges Internationale Solar.
