Tata Power Solar wins solar and battery storage project of 100 MW in Ladakh

The project will be India’s first large-scale battery storage solution co-located with solar energy in the Union Territory of Ladakh


On Thursday, Tata Power Solar, Tata Power’s subsidiary, announced it has secured an INR 386 crore order for a 50 megawatt (MW) solar plus 50 MW battery storage project at Phyang village in Leh, Ladakh.

The commercial operation of the project is scheduled for March 2023

As announced in a press release, the project will be India’s first large-scale battery storage solution co-located with solar energy in the Union Territory of Ladakh, which will be built at a high altitude of 3,600 meters above sea level.

Through the award of this project, Tata Power Solar has now successfully secured orders worth INR 12,414 crore. According to the agreement, the company will design, engineer, and construct the project on a turnkey basis along with providing 10 years of operation and maintenance.

Prior to this, the company also won an auction conducted by Gujarat for 400 MW of projects to be built at Dholera solar park.
