Tata Power Renewable Energy has commissioned 100 MW of solar power projects in UP
Despite challenges posed by COVID, Tata Power Renewable Energy completed the projects on time that are expected to produce more than 221.26 million units per year.
Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) has commissioned two solar power projects at Prayagraj and Banda in Uttar Pradesh, each with a capacity of 50 MW, according to a statement released on Monday.
TPREL completed these projects within the specified timeline despite the challenges posed by COVID pandemic. It is expected that the plants will produce more than 221.26 million units of clean power per year.
There were approximately 1,59,600 modules used in the Prayagraj project, which is expected to reduce 91,137 lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide every year.
According to the release, there were 1,67,440 modules used throughout the 236 acres at Banda. The Prayagraj and Banda plants are estimated to reduce carbon emissions annually by 1,77,037 lakh tonnes.
Commenting on the occasion, Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD of Tata Power stated that the commissioning of the projects has strengthened the company’s position as a leader in renewable energy space.
Due to its excellent project execution experience and capabilities, TPREL’s EPC arm successfully completed the project within the timelines despite the numerous COVID challenges faced by the industry, the statement noted.
TPREL and Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL), have already signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for these two projects.
Adding 100 MW to Tata Power’s renewable energy capacities will bring the total to 3,055 MW, including 2,123 MW of solar and 932 MW of wind.
The total renewable capacity of Tata Power is 4,909 MW, including 1,854 MW of renewable projects under implementation.
