Sterlite Power commissions Khargone Transmission Project in MP

Sterlite Power announced successful commissioning of Khargone Transmission Project worth INR 1662 crore. It will evacuate 1320 MW of power generated by the Khargone Power Plant to 765 kV Khandwa substation.


The Khargone Transmission Limited (KTL) project in Madhya Pradesh was successfully commissioned by Sterlite Power Transmission Limited, a leading private sector developer and solution provider for power transmission infrastructure.

Using the KTL Project, 1320 MW of power generated by the Khargone Power Plant will be evacuated to 765 kV Khandwa Substation. Further downstream, it will be distributed to Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chattisgarh, Gujarat, Goa, Daman & Diu, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli from the Khandwa substation.

All elements of the project are completed and in operation following the completion of the 765 kV Khandwa – Dhule transmission line.

By April 2020, five of the six elements of the project, including a 765kV substation at Khandwa, a 400kV D/C Khandwa-Khargone transmission line, a 765kV DC Khandwa-Indore transmission line, a 400kV LILO and Dhule Bay Extension, had already been commissioned. KTL project had been awarded to Sterlite Power through a tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB).
