SJVN signs agreement for 210 MW Luhri-1 HEP electromechanical works

A contract agreement for electromechanical works has been entered into for the 210 MW Luhri Hydro Electric Project Stage-1 between SJVN and Voith Hydro.


SJVN Limited has entered into a Contract Agreement for Electro-Mechanical Works of 210 MW Luhri Hydro Electric Project Stage-1 with M/s Voith Hydro (P) Ltd. 

The contract was signed in the benign presence of Shri Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director, SJVN, and Mr Ravinder Kalra, Managing Director (M/s Voith Hydro (P) Ltd).

Other dignitaries present at the event included Mrs Geeta Kapur, Director (Personnel), and Shri S.P. Bansal Director (Civil), Shri Akhileshwar Singh Director (Finance), Sh Sushil Sharma Director (Electrical), by Sh S.K Sood, GM (ECD), SJVN & Sh Raj Vidyarthi, Vice President of M/s Voith. Additionally, senior officials from SJVN and Voith were also present at the occasion.

Shree Nand Lal Sharma informed me that Ms. Voith Hydro has been awarded the Electro-Mechanical works amounting to INR 420.28 Crores. Ltd on 16.07.2021. All of these tasks are to be completed according to the Project’s Work Schedule, which is slated for commissioning by April 24, 2025. Civil and Hydro-Mechanical works were awarded on 24th November 2020. Construction is already in full swing.

This hydroelectric project is located in Shimla and Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh and is a run-off river scheme integrated with diurnal storage and a Dam-to-toe surface powerhouse. There are four no. Kaplan turbines, 2 of which are 80 MW main units and 2 of which are 25 MW auxiliary units. The project is designed to generate 210 MW total, with 4 no. Kaplan turbines. The project is estimated to cost 1810.56 crores and generate 758 million units of electricity annually.
