SJVN signed a MoU with DVC for solar energy projects
SJVN, DVC have signed the MoU to jointly identify sites (water-bodies as well as land) under their command area suitable for the development of Renewable Energy Projects.
SJVN Limited has entered into a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) for renewable energy projects development.
As part of a MoU with DVC, SJVN Limited will harness the potential solar energy of about 2000 MW that resides under the DVC command area.
SJVN and DVC will jointly identify sites (waterbodies as well as land) under their command area suitable for the development of Renewable Energy Projects.
Shri Akhileshwar Singh, Director (Finance), SJVN and Shri M Raghuram, Member (Technical), DVC signed the MoU in the presence of senior SJVN and DVC officials.
During the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 26), the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shree Narendra Modi expressed India’s plans to generate 500 GW of Renewable Energy by 2030.
Chairman & Managing Director, SJVN, Shri Nand Lal Sharma, said “This initiative is in line with the government’s targets and will enable SJVN to expand its presence across the country in addition to achieving its shared vision of adding 5000 MW by 2023, 12000 MW by 2030 and 25000 MW by 2040.”
The MoU signed by SJVN and DVC aims to form a joint venture company for the development of renewable energy projects within their respective command areas, according to Shri N L Sharma.
DVC manages large waterbodies that can be used to generate solar power by setting up floating solar farms, he noted further.
It is the vision of the Government of India that uninterrupted and affordable clean power is available to all 24 hours a day.
