NTPC launch a 25 MW floating solar project in Andhra Pradesh at its Simhadri unit

The first completed 5 MW block of the NTPC’s 25 MW floating solar project was inaugurated by Diwakar Kaushik, the head of the Simhadri unit on March 31, 2021.


The National Thermal Power Corporation of India Limited (NTPC) launched a 25 MW floating solar power project at its Simhadri unit complex in Visakhapatnam.

NTPC is developing this project in its own reservoir spread over 150 acers in the Simhadri unit premises. The first 5 MW block of the project was completed and inaugurated on 31 March 2021 by Diwakar Kaushik, the head of Simhadri unit.

Through the Control Monitoring and Control Station, two sets of solar inverters, each with a capacity of 2.5MW, were turned on.

The completion of the remaining work of the project is expected by June 2021 when the entire 25 MW can be made available to the grid.

This prestigious project is being executed by the BHEL. The total project cost is estimated to be around INR 110 crores.

Once completed, this 25 MW floating solar project of NTPC will be the single largest floating solar power project of Andhra Pradesh till date.
