Magneta builds six EV-charging hubs in Bengaluru for e-commercial fleets
Designed for ease of use by fleet operators and drivers, Magenta’s charging hubs offer 24/7 on-the-go charging, overnight parking, maintenance, and servicing of vehicles while they are being charged, as well as resting areas for drivers.
EV charging solutions provider Magenta, based in Bengaluru, has set up six charging hubs with 150 charging points for electric fleet vehicles at key locations across the city. The company plans to open nine more such hubs before year’s end.
The charging hubs will provide charging and maintenance for vehicles and come with a control panel that will allow fleet operators to manage and supervise a vehicle’s charging status, charging schedule, and service schedule, according to Magenta.
According to the company, the hubs were designed for ease of use by fleet operators and drivers. Accessing the company’s ChargeGrid Smart mobile app, the facility allows EV owners to check charging station availability in real time and book slots, and fleet operators to pay for services.
Maxson Lewis, Founder – Managing Director, Magenta, stated that Electric vehicles are being increasingly adopted in the last-mile delivery space by e-commerce companies. Charging hubs are key to fleet business success and operational efficiency. These charging stations will be located in a 3-kilometer radius around the e-commerce hubs and warehouses, stretching as far as the outskirts of Bengaluru Electronic City.
He further added that it is intended to deploy charging infrastructure in areas where last-mile distribution hubs are most dense, adding that these hubs have been designed with EV fleet drivers in mind.
The Magenta’s EV charging facility has been developed to offer on-the-go charging 24 hours a day, secure overnight parking, maintenance and servicing of vehicles while they are being charged along with rest areas for drivers.
Furthermore, the highly innovative hubs feature a backup power system to ensure full battery charging in case of a power outage. Additionally, these hubs are equipped with chargers that were developed in-house by the company to adapt to Indian usage conditions.
Magenta has partnered with several logistics and e-commerce companies, including Amazon India, Porter, Udaan, BigBasket, JumboTail, among others, for third-party, last-mile logistics services.
