Hero Electric announced on Tuesday that it has partnered with Bengaluru-based EV charging startup Charzer to jointly install 1 lakh charging stations across the country within the next three years.
Charzer will install 10,000 charging stations in the top 30 cities as part of the partnership in the first year.
Kirana Charzers will be installed at Hero Electric dealerships to make charging more convenient for customers, according to a statement.
Hero Electric believes that a solid infrastructure network, well-equipped with charging stations, is essential for the development of EVs in India. With this alliance, EV growth will be aided and customers will be offered a seamless charging experience, as charging slot booking and payment can be done with chargers deployed by Charzer, says Hero Electric CEO Sohin Gill.
As part of its vision to fuel the growth of EVs, the company is working arduously to scale up the charging infrastructure, he added further.
In a statement, Sameer Ranjan Jaiswal, co-founder of Charzer, stated that the collaboration will contribute to the electric mobility revolution and will facilitate the installation of the charging station. As the oldest EV maker in the country, Hero aims to make a positive and greener change.
At Kirana stores, apartments, offices, and malls, we will be installing charging stations for easy accessibility. Our partnership with Hero Electric is a giant step towards achieving this goal, and with the help of this partnership, we’re looking forward to charging up the next million vehicles, he added further.
There are currently 20 cities where the company operates, including Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mangalore, and Visakhapatnam.
