Godrej Process Equipment secured an order of INR 468 Cores from NPCIL

NPCIL awards Godrej Process Equipment a record-breaking order of INR 468 crore for its indigenously developed 700 MWe pressurized heavy water reactors.

One of the flagship companies of the Godrej Group, Godrej & Boyce, announced that its subsidiary Godrej Process Equipment won its single largest order from Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) for 468 cores.

The Godrej Process Equipment business has the largest footprint globally among the fourteen businesses of Godrej & Boyce.

It’s Godrej & Boyce’s first order of Steam Generators for India’s most powerful 700 MWe Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) being built by NPCIL. The project promotes the “Make in India” initiative.

Atomic power plants rely on steam generators to provide clean (non-fossil based) and reliable power for baseload requirements. Godrej Process Equipment was selected for its engineering competence, capability to produce high-precision equipment, and expertise in dealing with exotic metals.

The component will be manufactured in their new state-of-the-art facility in Dahej, Gujarat.

With this order, Godrej Process Equipment, a new entrant to the market for steam generators used in nuclear power plants, will gain a stronger position as a key supplier of nuclear power equipment for the country’s nuclear power program.

Hussain Shariyarr, Senior Vice President & Business Head, Godrej Process Equipment said, “For decades now, Godrej Process Equipment has been a leading global fabricator of high-end critical static equipment for the Process Industry.  To contribute to India’s prestigious Nuclear Power Program is a matter of great pride for us at Godrej Process Equipment.”

“This order is one of the largest orders that we have bagged in recent times thus underscoring our customer – NPCIL’s trust in our capabilities. With this order, we have strengthened our position as a key equipment supplier for the Government’s Nuclear Power Program. With India giving a push to increase Nuclear Energy share, Godrej is expected to play a crucial role for supplying key equipment,” he added further.

Manufacturing custom process equipment is a core competency of Godrej Process Equipment. Among the products they manufacture are heavy-walled reactors, pressure vessels, high-pressure heat exchangers, columns, trays, and reactor internals. Over 80% of these products are exported, with use in various critical industries including oil and gas, petrochemicals, fertilizers, power, and water.
