Germany and India sign a pact to boost solar energy skills

The Rajasthan Solar Association and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH signed an agreement for solar skill development on Tuesday.

In a joint agreement announced on Tuesday, the Rajasthan Solar Association and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH will work together for the skill development of persons in the solar sector through workshops and training programs devised and executed by professionals.

Under the auspices of the GIZ GmbH, the Indo-German Vocational Education and Training (IGVET) program is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

RSA’s president and general secretary, Suman Kumar and Sunil Bansal updated GIZ executives on their plans to help start a skill development institute and facilitation center at Bap in Jodhpur with the help of the government of Rajasthan.

Implemented by GIZ, it aims to boost the workers’ skills in India. The program is modeled on the German dual system of training, in which the private sector plays an active role in providing on-the-job training opportunities of high quality.

Together with the GIZ, RSA has already designed a series of initiatives to enhance skill development in the solar sector in the coming years.
