GE receives an order for  810 MW onshore wind turbines from JSW Energy

The turbines will generate enough green energy for 2.1 million households in the country to meet their electricity needs annually.


GE Renewable Energy announced on Thursday that it received an order of supplying 810 MW of onshore wind turbines from JSW Energy for their upcoming wind farms in Tamil Nadu.

The official press release noted that the turbines will generate enough green energy for 2.1 million households meeting their electricity needs annually.

Prashant Jain, Jt. MD & CEO, JSW Energy said, “We are aiming to reach 20 GW of power generation capacity by 2030, which would significantly increase the share of green & renewable energy projects in our total portfolio to 85 percent.

Jain further noted that the under-construction project is JSW Energy’s first large-scale wind power project. JSW Energy is currently implementing wind farms in India with a capacity of around 2 GW.

The scheduled delivery of turbines is to start in the second quarter of 2022 and will be completed by the first quarter of 2023. A GE Renewable Energy business, LM Wind Power will be supplying the blades from its Indian factory in Halol, Gujarat.
