Envision Energy wins 2,000 MW wind turbine contract in India
Envision Energy bags a 2000 MW wind turbine order in India and plans to deliver 596 wind turbines by the end of 2023..
Envision Energy has been awarded a 2000 MW wind turbine order in India. This is a significant win for the company, as it underscores its position as a leading provider of renewable energy solutions. Envision plans to make the delivery of 596 wind turbines for the project by the end of 2023.
Envision will supply and commission its latest generation of EN156/3.3 wind turbines for the projects. The 156m rotor on EN 156/3.3 is the largest in the country. This rotor is coupled with a 3.3 MW generator and a hub height of 140 meters. This design is specifically designed to maximize energy production from the low wind regimes prevalent in the country.
Back in 2018, Envision had invested $25 million to establish its 1200 MW-capacity nacelle and hub assembly plant in Pune. Further, to meet the increased demand from the market, Envision will be increasing its production capacity by twofold. The company is also setting up its blade factory in India and its completion is expected by the first quarter of 2023.
R P V Prasad, Country Head – India Region stated, “India is committed to achieving 500 gigawatts (GW) of annual renewable energy generation by 2030, and we’re proud to contribute to this effort. We are expecting to hire more than 300 employees in India to meet the growing needs of the country and the Asia Pacific region.”
Kane Xu, Managing Director of Envision India and Global Vice President, says, “We are delighted with the trust our Indian partners have placed in us and we are proud to carry on providing our best services in India.”
“Thanks to our expertise in using digital technologies, we can generate maximum efficiency, cost savings, and rapid innovation in order to better serve our customers. To accelerate the energy transition, we have a number of options available worldwide, such as wind power, energy storage, digital technologies, as well as other net zero solutions,” he added further.
Existing Envision projects in India include the 198 MW Khagashree wind farm and the 35 MW Kagvard wind farm, both equipped with EN- 131/2.5MW wind turbines, which have been in operation since May and October, respectively. More than 1.76 billion kWh of clean energy has been generated so far by these projects.
Announcing the commitment to 100% renewable electricity by 2025, Envision Group joined the global initiative ‘RE100’. Through Envision Energy, Envision sells and operates smart wind turbines and smart storage systems; through Envision AESC, Envision provides AIoT-powered batteries; and through Envision Digital, Envision provides the world’s largest AIoT operating system.
The Envision Group announced on April 22, 2021 that it will become carbon neutral in operations by 2022, and carbon neutral throughout its value chain by 2028.
