CMD, SJVN lay the “Mini Smart Township” foundation stone for the Buxar TPP

Foundation stone laid for “Mini Smart Township” at 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Plant, Bihar, by CMD, SJVN during his official visit to the plant. 


During his official visit to the 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Plant in Bihar, Shri Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director SJVN laid the foundation stone of “Mini Smart Township” for the Power Plant. 

The occasion was graced by Smt. Geeta Kapur Director (Personnel), Sh. A.K. Singh Director (Finance) & Sh. Sushil Kumar Sharma Director (Electrical). On this occasion Sh. Sanjeev Sood, CEO, SJVN Thermal Pvt. Ltd (STPL) was also present along with senior officials from SJVN & STPL.

In his address to the employees, Shree Nand Lal Sharma stated that the “Mini Smart Township” demonstrates that SJVN cares about its employees. In the township, there will be residential buildings, office buildings, guest houses, a sports complex, clubs, a hospital, a school, a shopping complex, an auditorium, and an amphitheater. 

The Township will be developed following the Smart City Concept and incorporating Green Building Provisions. RainWater Harvesting Systems and Solar Panels for energy generation will be part of the Smart City. In the proposed Township, there will be a number of multi-story buildings and a variety of open and green spaces, as well as a park and a water body.

Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Plant on 9th March 2019. He also reported that Shree R K Singh, Union Minister for Power & NRE, is continuously monitoring the progress of the project. As a result, he encouraged all stakeholders to work relentlessly in order to commission the Project by the scheduled date.

The 1320 MW (2X660 MW) Buxar Thermal Power Plant with Ultra Super Critical Technology is being developed by SJVN Thermal Pvt Ltd (a fully owned subsidiary of SJVN Limited). It involves an investment of about Rs. 11,000 crores. Commissioning of the plant will result in 9828 Million Units of electricity being generated. 

He emphasized the need to contribute to the target of “24X7 Power for All” set by India’s Hon’ble Prime Minister. All individuals involved in Plant activities should work together to achieve the commissioning of the first unit by June 2023 and the second unit by January 2024, he stated further.

Additionally, Shree Nand Lal Sharma, along with other Directors and Senior Officers, reviewed the progress of activities and inspected all the major components of the Plant. As a result, he appreciated all those who worked hard to keep momentum in spite of the difficult times of COVID-19.
