On Wednesday, the 3rd of March 2021, the Union Cabinet of India gives approval to the Memorandum of Understanding signed between India and France. According to the official statement released, the MoU was signed in January 2021.
The main purpose of the MoU signed between India and the French Republic is to provide for the framework on the basis of mutual benefit, equality, and reciprocity for the promotion of bilateral cooperation in the field of renewable and new energy.
It shall include technologies related to solar power, wind power, hydrogen, and biomass energy.
The MoU shall involve the give-and-take of scientific and technical personnel along with the provision of the training. Also, it shall bring about the exchange of scientific and technological information and data.
While it also provides for the development of joint research and technological projects along with organizing of workshops and seminars in addition to the transfer of equipment, know-how, and technology.
Looking at India’s ambitious goal of 450 GW installed renewable energy capacity by 2030, the MoU is intended to help improve technical know-how in the field of renewable energy, thereby easing the way to the achievement of the set renewable targets for 2030.
