Bids from Reliance, Tata, or Adani expected under the PLI solar scheme
As large companies have expressed interest in committing to end-to-end solar manufacturing, nearly four times bidding is expected of the 10GW tender.
The production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for solar modules is likely to attract bids from Reliance Industries, Tata Power, Adani Solar, Acme Solar, and Vikram Solar.
As large companies have expressed interest in committing to end-to-end solar manufacturing. Government officials expect massive bids for the programme, nearly four times that of the 10GW tender.
There were 18 bids of nearly 40 GW submitted by companies, including large ones, until Sunday, according to the available information. The opening of bids will take place on Tuesday.
The officials stated that in contrast to expectations of beginning with wafers and moving to modules, many players are committed to building a fully integrated facility from polysilicon to module.
In April, the Union cabinet had approved the PLI program to manufacture high-efficiency photovoltaic panels with an outlay of INR 4,500 crore.
A 10 GW of high-efficiency integrated solar PV manufacturing plants is expected to be added through the incentives, which will bring a direct investment of around INR 17, 200 crores in solar PV manufacturing.
