BHEL commissions third unit of 250 MW at Nabinagar TPP
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has successfully commissioned another unit of 250 MW coal-based thermal power plant (TPP) at Nabinagar TPP, located at Nabinagar in Aurangabad district of Bihar.
Being set up by Bharatiya Rail Bijlee Company Limited (BRBCL), a joint venture of NTPC Limited and the Indian Railways, the commissioned unit is the third unit of green-field 4×250 MW Nabinagar Thermal Power Project. The first two units are already under commercial operation and the fourth unit is in an advanced stage of execution.
The BHEL was placed with orders for Steam Generator (SG) and Turbine Generator (TG) packages for setting up of four units of 250 MW coal based thermal plant.
In addition to the state-of – the-art Control & Instrumentation (C&I) and Electrostatic Precipitators (ESPs), the company was involved in the design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, assembly and implementation of Steam turbines, generators and boiler, as well as the related auxiliary and electrical supplies.
At its Haridwar, Trichy, Ranipet, Hyderabad and Bengaluru works the BHEL has manufactured the key equipment for the project, while the construction has been undertaken by the company’s Power Sector – Eastern Region.
BHEL which has a long-standing partnership with NTPC and account for around 75% of NTPC’s coal-based installed capacity. Till date BHEL has supplied approximately 34,000 MW of the coal-based power plants for NTPC and its Joint Ventures.
