Azure Power announced commissioning of its 600 MW solar project in Rajasthan

The company statement reports it as the India’s largest solar project at a single location, owned and operated by any developer.

On Monday, Azure Power, a Delhi-based sustainable energy firm, announced the commissioning of its largest 600 megawatt (MW) solar project connected to the state’s transmission system in Bikaner, Rajasthan.

The power generated by the project will be supplied to the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for a 25-year period. The solar power has been agreed to be supplied at a tariff of INR 2.53 per unit.

The company reports that this is India’s largest solar project at a single location, owned and operated by any developer.

This project had to contend with several challenges amid lockdowns and safety concerns due to its initiation around the onset of COVID-19 in India. Even with the challenges… we were able to deliver high-performance assets,” said Ranjit Gupta, managing director, and chief executive officer, Azure Power.

The SECI-funded solar project has been completed in phases by Azure Power, with the final 100 MW being commissioned this month. Post the commissioning of this project, the company now has a total of 2,510 MW of high-performing solar assets in operation across India.
