Adani Green Energy signs green energy PPA for 4,667 MW with SECI
The PPA for 4,667 MW between AGEL-SECI is part of a manufacturing-linked solar tender of 8,000 MW awarded to AGEL by SECI in June 2020.
Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL), the renewable energy arm of the Adani Group, has entered into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with SECI for the supply of 4,667 MW of green energy. The agreement is being considered as the world’s largest green PPA, so far.
“We are happy to have signed this agreement,” Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, said following the announcement of the world’s largest PPA with SECI. “
Commenting further he said that through this step, we have taken a major step towards accelerating India’s dual objective, which includes expanding its renewable energy footprint and promoting domestic manufacturing under the Atma Nirbhar Bharat mission.
He further pointed out that the discussions at COP26, have made it clear that a transition to a low carbon economy must take place more quickly than previously thought. As a result, Adani has committed to invest $50-$70 billion in the renewable energy sector. Having signed this agreement, we are well on our way to becoming the largest renewable energy player in the world by 2030.
As part of a 8,000 MW manufacturing-linked solar tender awarded to AGEL by SECI in June 2020, AGEL and SECI have signed this PPA for the supply of 4,667 MW of solar power.
Till date, AGEL and SECI have signed PPAs for 6,000MW of the 8,000MW contract awarded in 2020. In two to three months, AGEL is expecting to conclude the remaining 2000 MW power purchase agreements.
