A MoU signed between Jio-bp and Mahindra Group to promote EVs and green solutions.

Jio-BP a brand of Reliance BP Mobility and Mahindra Group will collaborate on electric vehicle products and services, as well as on low-carbon and conventional fuels.

On Wednesday, Jio-bp, the subsidiary of Reliance BP Mobility, signed an MoU with Mahindra Group to collaborate in areas such as electric vehicle products and services, and low-carbon and conventional fuels.

Reliance Industries and UK-based BP plc formed Jio-bp to create a fuel and mobility joint venture. It is a “non-binding” agreement.

“The MoU includes evaluating Jio-bp charging solutions for Mahindra electric vehicles, including electric three and four wheelers, quadricycles and e-small commercial vehicles,” according to a statement from Jio-bp.

Jio-bp will also explore charging solutions for Mahindra’s vehicles via business models including ‘mobility as a service’ (MaaS) and ‘battery as a service’ (BaaS), the statement further stated.

In addition, the partnership aims to accelerate the deployment of EVs in India by providing high-performance and interchangeable batteries, which will help alleviate range anxiety among users.

The statement further noted that innovations like these might expand horizons for both companies and expedite India’s path to net-zero emissions.

Recently at the COP26 Summit in Glasgow, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced India’s goal of becoming a net-zero economy by 2070.
