Enphase Energy targets a 10% share of the residential rooftop solar market
In Tamil Nadu, Enphase Energy has opened a facility with Salcomp, a high-precision manufacturer.
Enphase Energy plans to capture 10 percent of the domestic residential rooftop solar market in the next two years.
“In the Indian residential rooftop solar market, Enphase Energy India currently has a 4 percent market share. The company will aim to reach 10 percent within two years. We firmly believe that Enphase IQ Microinverter’s burst mode technology, rapid shutdown, high reliability and safety, and superior performance will drive faster market adoption,” Manoj Gopalan Nair, the company’s senior director of sales, said.
A supplier of micro-inverter based solar plus storage systems, Enphase Energy, has opened a new facility in Tamil Nadu with high precision manufacturer Salcomp.
The Chennai unit is the country’s largest manufacturer of solar inverters, with a capacity of more than six million units annually. Micro-inverters are produced at the plant and exported to several markets including the United States and Europe.
Mr. Sunil Thamaran, Vice President and Managing Director of Enphase Energy, noted that the company sees incredible growth potential in India and has partnered with Salcomp to boost both domestic and export growth for the country.
“This (Chennai) plant has exported millions of microinverters to North America, Europe, and Asia. Additionally, more than 60 percent of Enphase Energy’s global workforce is based in India,” he said.
Sasikumar Gendham, MD of Salcomp India said that green energy has become the center of attention for a sustainable future.
“Enphase has been an important player in this field, and Salcomp is excited to be their manufacturing partner. India has taken a significant step towards promoting the manufacturing of green products, and this will propel the electronics manufacturing industry forward,” he said.
He noted that Salcomp is committed to supporting the Make in India initiatives by the government of India, as well as the solar energy and other green energy initiatives.
According to Enphase Energy more than 42 million microinverters have been shipped by the company, and approximately 1.9 million Enphase-based systems have been installed in over 130 countries.
