SJVN wins its first floating solar power project of 15 MW in Himachal Pradesh

Through an e-Reverse Auction conducted by Solar Energy Corporation of India, SJVN has secured its first floating solar power project of 15 MW at Nangal Pond in Himachal Pradesh

SJVN has won the 15 MW grid-connected float solar PV project at Nangal Pond, near village Neilla, in the district of Bilaspur, in Himachal Pradesh.

Through an e-Reverse Auction conducted by Solar Energy Corporation of India, SJVN secured the full quoted capacity of 15 MW @ INR 3.26 /Unit on Build Own and Operate basis.

“The awarding of SJVN’s first Floating Solar Project in Himachal Pradesh is a proud moment for the company,” commented Nand Lal Sharma, CMD SJVN. 

A large part of the company’s effort is to develop Renewable Energy in order to help realize the Government of India’s goal of creating 500 GW of non-fossil energy by 2030,” Nand Lal Sharma added.

As informed by the CMD, the cost of developing the Floating Solar Project is expected to be around 100 crores. In its first year, the project is expected to generate 32.85 MU. While the cumulative generation over a 25 year period of the project is expected to be approximately 756 MU of power.

A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) will be signed between SJVN and Bhakra Beas Management Board, shortly.

Besides, Sharma stated that as of now, SJVN has 11 solar power projects of 2965 MW capacity in different stages of development, adding up to a total portfolio of more than 16800 MW..

New projects added recently have taken SJVN to new heights. The Company  is aggressively moving forward on the growth path with a commitment to achieve its Shared Vision of 5000 MW by 2023, 25000 MW by 2030, as well as 50000 MW installed capacity by 2040.
