In Andhra Pradesh, NIT to establish a renewable energy research center
The research hub will help local micro and small businesses in developing off-grid and on-grid renewable energy solutions along with nurturing start-up companies.
A Common Research and Technology Development Hub (CRTDH) for renewable energy is being established by the National Institute of Technology-Andhra Pradesh.
This Hub is sponsored by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. It will help local micro and small businesses in developing off-grid and on-grid renewable energy solutions. In addition, this hub will also nurture start-up companies.
This research centre will allow micro and small enterprises to conduct research and development activities, such as testing innovative products and new technologies, according to officials at NIT-AP. To support the Hub, the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research will contribute Rs 5 crore. In its own contribution, NIT-AP will provide Rs 2.15 crore, which includes land and buildings for the research centre.
The department of electrical engineering will lead the project in collaboration with other departments at the institute.
NIT Andhra Pradesh director, Prof CSP Rao, said the institute aims to establish a state-of-the-art Common Research and Technology Development Hub (CRTDH). He further stated, “India has crossed the 100 GW milestone when it comes to renewable energy generation and is accelerating its transition towards green energy. In addition to bridging the gap between academia and industry, the centre will promote mutual benefits.”
Congratulation to the department of electrical engineering for creating a research and development center of this kind. We are grateful to the DSIR for their support and sanction of the project,” added Rao.
