JinkoSolar topped the Indian market again with the highest commissioned capacity in Q2: Report

With 528 MW of commissioned capacity, JinkoSolar accounted for 20% of India’s ground deployment of 2.1 GW during Q2 of this year.

Despite lockdowns and challenges due to the pandemic, utility-scale solar power capacity additions have been stable in India. In the second quarter of 2021, India added 2.1 GW of solar capacity, bringing its total installed solar power to 46 GW.

In the second quarter, JinkoSolar contributed 528 MW of ground-based capacity addition, accounting for 20% of India’s ground-based deployment. An industry-leading research firm, Bridge to India, released these exemplary figures in its latest quarterly report covering the sector. This figure is largely attributed to Jinkosolar’s flagship model, the Tiger Pro, which’s been a market leader since last year.

According to Bridge to India, about 2110 MW of solar capacity was added between April and June, with around 84% (1785 MW) being in the utility scale segment. Leading the industry in this category was Jinko Solar, which contributed 528 MW alone among some of the most prestigious green energy companies comprising IPPs and project developers.

The results are noteworthy, as due to the COVID-19 pandemic, raw materials sourcing issues, demand pressures, volatile upstream pricing, limited equipment movement, supply shortages, among other challenges had to be overcome by the company.

JinkoSolar that has built a strong foothold in large-scale utility markets in India also saw rapid adoption of its products in the DG segment during the second quarter.

“Moving to the third quarter of 2021, JinkoSolar’s Tiger and Tiger Pro ultra-high power series modules will continue to meet the increasing demand and expand our market share in the high-end distribution market,” said Daniel Liu, General Manager, JinkoSolar – South & Central Asia.

“JinkoSolar was the leading supplier to India during the first quarter in terms of shipment capacity with more than 800 MW of solar modules shipped and delivered to customers across the country. The second quarter was crucial for the company as we saw the successful installation and commissioning of a large part of that capacity which reaffirms our position as a market leader in both aspects – Market Share and Technology Acceptance. We continue to innovate and upgrade our technology platforms so that our product offerings make commercial sense for a highly competitive and strategic market like India.” said Gener Miao, CMO, JinkoSolar.
