15 MW floating solar project commissioned by NTPC in Andhra Pradesh
Announcing the successful commissioning of the Simhadri Floating Solar PV Project in Simhadri, Andhra Pradesh, a BSE filing said it would be commercially operational as of 10:00 hrs. on August 21, 2021.
NTPC has announced the successful commissioning of the 25 MW Simhadri Floating Solar PV Project at its Simhadri coal-fired power station in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The company said in its BSE filing that the Simhadri floating solar plant would be commercially operational as of 10:00 hrs. on August 21, 2021.
NTPC commissioned a floating solar PV project with a 15 MW capacity on Saturday. With this addition, the installed capacity of the floating solar PV project at Simhadri reaches 25 MW.
The Simhadri Floating solar project covers 75 acres of the reservoir surface with over 1 lakh solar modules. The power produced from the plant will be capable of lighting more than 7000 homes.
In addition, the project will help cut down the CO2 emissions by around 46000 tonnes annually. The floating solar project will also help save evaporation of around 1364 million liters of water annually which is enough to meet the needs of around 6700 households.
The total installed capacity of NTPC stands at 53,475 MW. On the other hand, the total installed capacity of NTPC Group stands at 66,900 MW.
