MG Motor becomes first company in India to use wind-solar hybrid energy
The company partnered with CleanMax that will provide 4.85kW of wind-solar hybrid power at MG Motor’s Halol manufacturing facility.
A statement issued by MG Motor India on Thursday said the company collaborated with CleanMax to become the first car company to manufacture cars using wind-solar hybrid energy.
As a result of the partnership, MG Motor’s manufacturing facility in Halol will receive 4.85 MW of wind-solar hybrid electricity from Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions (CleanMax).
MG will abate approximately 2 lakh MT of CO2 over 15 years as a result of this partnership, which is equivalent to planting more than 13 lakh trees.
As part of its initiative to promote EV adoption in India, MG Motor launched the country’s first pure electric SUV, MG ZS EV, the statement said.
In Gujarat, CleanMax set up the first wind-solar hybrid power park to sell clean energy to private consumers and corporates. Approximately 150 MW of capacity will be added by 2022.
MG’s Halol plant will start fetching power from Rajkot’s CleanMax hybrid park in February 2022 and will do so for 15 years.
