T&D Equipment manufacturers join hands to ensure truly sustainable power grids
A joint statement was recently released by T&D equipment manufacturers taking the responsibility to deliver T&D equipment free from fluorinated-gas and PFAS-gas to ensure truly sustainable power grids.
Looking at the severity of the climate crisis that is changing at an unprecedented pace as a result of human activity government and nations are striding ahead towards the decarbonization of power generation through renewable energy. For a truly sustainable future, it is also equally crucial to decarbonize the T&D power grids, on which the system runs.
Since the last 5 decades or more, the SF6 has been contributing to the reliability, efficiency, and resilience of power network equipment. However, looking at the fact that SF6 has a global warming potential over 25,000 times higher than CO2, it becomes imperative that necessary action must now be taken to limit the emissions of SF6 and to install new equipment that uses safe, non-toxic, and clean alternatives.
In conjunction with this objective, leading electrical transmission and distribution (T&D) equipment manufacturers have come together with an objective to take this unique opportunity to set the standard for delivering infrastructures that focus on providing a climate-neutral objective to boost the transition to net zero emission economies.
A joint statement was recently released by T&D equipment manufacturers like – Siemens, Mitshubishi Electric, Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions, Schneider Electric, Nuventura, Meidensha Corp. and Eljin Electric Co – taking the responsibility to deliver T&D equipment free from fluorinated-gas and PFAS-gas to ensure truly sustainable power grids.
The joint statements also welcome all T&D Equipment manufacturers for their involvement in achieving this objective towards building clean and sustainable power grids for a climate-neutral future.
