A 33/11 KV GIS Sub-station has been inaugurated in Jaipur under IPDS Scheme

The GIS sub-station is equipped with SCADA technology and can be monitored and controlled by a central control room from a remote location.


The inauguration of a 33/11 KV GIS Substation in Jaipur, Rajasthan, under the IPDS scheme of the government of India took place on 30th October 2021.

In this project, Power Finance Corporation Ltd. (PFC), a Maharatna CPSE company, is the Nodal Agency while Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (JVVNL) is the implementing agency.

In conjunction with the celebrations of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ marking 75 years of India’s independence, Dr B.D. Kalla, Power Minister, Government of Rajasthan, virtually inaugurated the 33/11 KV GIS Substation.

Other dignitaries present on the occasion were Bhaskar Sawant, Chairman Discoms, Navin Arora, MD, JVVNL, Ameen Qazi, MLA, Kishan Pole, DC Aggarwal, Chief Engineer, Jaipur Zone, DK Sharma, CE, PPM, AK Tyagi, SE, Jaipur City along with Senior Officers from Power Finance Corporation Limited. 

Located at the Janana Hospital premises of the state capital, the 33/11 KV GIS substation is Rajasthan’s first GIS substation built with an investment of Rs 8.00 crore. The sub-station will provide efficient power benefiting close to 5000 houses in Chandpol in Jaipur. 

This state-of-the-art substation uses SCADA technology and was commissioned via remote control. A central control room can monitor and control the operation of a GIS sub-station from a remote location.

A number of GIS/AIS substations and RT-DAS systems have been inaugurated by PFC as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations in the past few months, across the country.
