A 250-MW solar power plant will be built by Tata Power in Maharashtra
The project has been awarded to Tata Power via competitive tariff bidding which was followed by an e-reverse auction.
According to Tata Power’s announcement on Monday, its wholly owned subsidiary TP Saurya received a Letter of Intent from the Maharashtra State Power Generation Corporation to build a 250 megawatt (MW) solar power plant.
Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company granted its approval to purchase power generated from the plant. The plant will be located at Dondaicha Solar Park in Dhule District, Maharashtra.
Tata Power CEO and Managing Director Praveer Sinha said, “The project will increase the share of renewable energy in Maharashtra’s overall energy mix.”.
The company states that the project has been awarded via competitive tariff bidding which was followed by an e-reverse auction. The project is scheduled for commission within 15 months from the date of execution of the power purchase agreement.
By adding this, Tata Power will have a total of 4,611 MW of renewable energy in its portfolio, with an installed capacity of 2,947 MW and 1,664 MW under implementation.
