NTPC starts commercial operation from Sep-1 at Unit-2 of Darlipali TPS

The state-run power company NTPC announced on Tuesday that the second unit at Darlipali Super Thermal Power Station (TPS) in Odisha will begin commercial operation on September 1.
In a regulatory filing, NTPC stated that Unit-2 of 800MW of Darlipali Super Thermal Power Station, Stage-I (2 x 800 MW), will go on commercial operation at 00:00 Hrs on 01.09.2021.
Darlipali project is a 1600 MW thermal power project situated at the Sundargarh District of Orissa. The Darlipali super thermal power plant’s Unit-1 of 800 MW had begun commercial operations in March 2020.
The project gets coal from Dulanga Mine and water from Hirakud Reservoir. The equipment for the plant had been placed with BHEL and BGR – Hitachi.
With the start of commercial operation at Darlipali TPS, the NTPC and NTPC Group commercial capacity has now reached 53,225 MW and 66,650 MW respectively, according to the company.
In addition to Darlipali Thermal Power Project, NTPC also has two more projects in the State of Orissa – Talcher Thermal ( 460 MW) and Talcher Kaniha ( 3000 MW).
