India now has over 100GW of installed renewable capacity
Having a total installed capacity of over 100 GW of renewable energy, India is now ranked fourth in the world for a total installed renewable energy capacity.
The country’s total installed renewable energy generation capacity crossed the 100 GW mark on Thursday. This places India fourth in the world in terms of installed renewable energy capacity.
By 2022, the country aims to develop 175 GW of renewable energy. In addition, India has set for itself a target to have 450 GW of renewable energy by 2030.
As per the recent official release it has been reported that India has crossed the 100 GW milestone in terms of total renewable capacity installed, including large hydro.
The official release added further that globally, India now ranks 4th in terms of total installed renewable energy capacity, while 5th in terms of installed solar power capacity, and 4th in terms of installed wind power capacity.
In addition to 100 GW being installed, 50 GW is undergoing installation, and 27 GW is undergoing tendering. Inclusion of large hydro would boost installed renewable energy capacity to 146 GW, the release stated.
The day when the country’s installed Renewable Energy capacity (excluding large Hydro) crossed 100 GW, was hailed as another landmark day in the history of the Indian Power Sector by Power and New & Renewable Energy Minister R K Singh in a Tweet.
