GERC sets 51 paise per kWh additional surcharge for open access consumers
GERC stated that the rate would apply to open access customers of all four state-owned discoms from October 1, 2021, and March 31, 2022.
Consumers who use open access sources to purchase electricity from sources other than their power distribution companies (discoms) will now have to pay an additional surcharge of INR 0.51 per kWh.
The surcharge has been imposed by the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC) in its latest order and shall be applicable over all four state-owned discoms.
In its earlier order, applicable from April 1 to September 30, 2021, GERC had set an additional charge of INR 0.50/kWh.
In its recent order, GERC stated that the additional rate of INR 0.51 per kWh towards additional surcharge would apply to open access customers of all four state-owned discoms from October 1, 2021, and March 31, 2022.
Based on data provided by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL), an additional surcharge is set every six months.
