NTPC tenders for the construction of India’s first green hydrogen fuelling station in Leh

NTPC tenders for setting up of Green Hydrogen Fuelling Station in Leh, the sale of bid documents is to begin on 31st July 2021.

For the construction of India’s first Green Hydrogen Fuelling Station, NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd (NTPC REL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC, has invited a domestic tender. The Green Hydrogen Fuelling Station is to be set up in Leh, Ladakh.

A sale of bid documents is scheduled to begin on 31st July 2021.

In addition to the tender, NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited (NVVN) has recently floated a tender for the purchase of Fuel Cell Buses for Ladakh. The Green Mobility Project will be jointly executed by NTPC REL and NVVN in the Union Territory of Ladakh.

NTPC REL is also developing a 1.25 MW solar power plant at Leh to provide green hydrogen fuel at the hydrogen fuelling station. A contract for the solar plant is expected to be awarded within a month.

NTPC REL and the Union Territory of Ladakh signed a landmark MoU earlier for the development of green hydrogen technologies in high-altitude regions.

After the successful completion of the project, Leh and surrounding regions would experience a new era of emission-free transportation and India will be one of a few countries to be at the forefront in this space.

In the process of building an eco-system in the region that is cleaner and greener, this project will be a significant step forward.

The project will help to ease the surface transportation issues for the union territory of Ladakh. While playing an important role in boosting tourism in the region.
