Tangedco has appointed Pradeep Yadav as CMD moving out Vikram Kapur
In a major reshuffle, Tamil nadu government moved out additional chief secretary Vikram Kapur and appointed Pradeep Yadav as CMD, Tangedco. The TNEB has taken the move amid raging controversy and public uproar over alleged excess energy billing during the lockdown period.
The state government of Tamil Nadu has appointed Pradeep Yadav as CMD, Tangedco. The government handed over the duties as full additional charge, to principal secretary Pradeep Yadav, Managing Director of Chennai Metro Rail in a major shuffle, On Sunday.
The appointment took place after the state government moved out additional chief secretary Vikram Kapur, who was holding the charge of chairman and managing director of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, Tangedco and Tantransco.
While Vikram Kapur now heads tourism, culture and religious endowments department, his move from TNEB comes in the middle of a raging controversy and public uproar over alleged excess energy billing during the lockdown period.
Though, both Vikram Kapur and P Thangamani, state electricity minsiter, had denied that Tangedco indulged in excess billing. “The full additional charge would hold by Yadav until further orders,” Chief Secretary K Shanmugam stated in an order.
Yadav takes over the charge of the state power utility at a time when the total debt has reached nearly 1 lakh crore.
Meanwhile, instead of Shambu Kallolikar, who has been moved and designated Principal Secretary of Handlooms, handicrafts, textile and Khadi department, Sandeep Saxena, who was responsible for the tourism, culture and religious endowments, was relocated to manage the environment and the Forest Department.
On the other hand, S K Prabakar, the home secretary, will be holding over additional charge of the post of principal secretary of energy department in place of A Karthik, the head of the energy department, who has so far been taking the responsibility.
